When your lender begins refusing your payments, it means they have initiated the steps required to begin pursuing possession of your property. They devote significant resources internally and retain outside attorneys who specialize in foreclosure and eviction law. Without equal knowledge and understanding of these same laws, guidelines and requirements, your lender will always do what is in the best interest for them and the investor, not you and your family.

A mortgage forbearance agreement is a temporary plan made between a lender and a borrower who is struggling to make mortgage payments. This agreement generally reduces or suspends mortgage payments for a set time period during which the lender agrees not to foreclose on the property. 

Forbearance is NOT loan forgiveness. Borrowers will still owe the principal and interest that they didn’t pay during the forbearance period. In fact, they will be required to make both the regular mortgage payments and also all the payments they missed while the loan was in forbearance. This is often not explained clearly enough to homeowners and now they are required to come up with the entire amount that they owe. This type of financial demand is not available for most and as a result, it leaves the homeowner at imminent risk of losing their home.
